Since outdoor activity hasn't really been possible in Austin this summer with the record rainfall, I've been spending time nurturing my artistic side. I've wanted to try my hand at mosaics for a long time, so I bought some pavers and started glueing. The grouting has been the most difficult part, but I am really enjoying experimenting with different designs and materials. I found that buying stained glass panes and busting them up with a hammer is a good way to get lots of great shapes and sizes with which to work. I've been watching for glass and metal patio tables on Craigslist for a more ambitious project. So far, the Texas paver is Terry's favorite. I'm anxious to see how the grapes look once they are grouted. V
