I really enjoy eating breakfast.  And while there are plenty of different items for this first meal of the day, I tend to gravitate back to the classic bacon and eggs (over easy) with dry toast.  Recently I purchased an ipad app called "Mario Batali Cooks!". This app has helped me take my cooking to a new level.  Not in a fancy way but by showing me balance.  

 

This asparagus and duck egg recipe is not listed as a breakfast dish but it worked out nicely. Throw in a couple of pieces of bacon for good measure and wow you have a great meal to start your day. Simple, fresh, delicious.   If you need good fresh duck eggs here in Austin.  Windy Acres Farms is at the Cedar Park Famers market each week.   Enjoy!

2010 was a low year for me and brewing beer. Not a lot of brews and not a lot of success. 2011 is off to a good start. Pale Ale is flowing from the taps and is enjoyable. I kegged and tasted my IPA and Stout yesterday and both seem to be a winner as well. I will know in 2 days once fully carbed.

I am looking forward to what 2011 will bring.  I know that the key to all the exciting things that are possible begins with me.

My focus in 2011 will be:

Don't Think . . .  Execute! 

In our computer based world, I tend to think, research and write things out about what I am going to do etc.  Now, I understand that writing down goals increases the chances of accomplishment however, I have a tendency to sit and think and not get around to the "doing it" part.  Granted, if I take this approach for 2011 some of my results may not be perfect, however I will have a result.

So 2011 .. Here's looking at you kid - and watch out cause I am going to EXECUTE!

And so it begins. I already post a lot of what I eat.  Food Porn.  Silly. But in this facebook/twitter world things it is what I do. 

Now that I have the Egg up and running strong with nice lump char-carol and mesquite lump wood in the fire ring and I can get my Egg to 400 in about 10 minutes, I shall be grilling more than I ever did on my trusty and loyal gas grill.

You might think that man grilling has to be BEEF, PORK and heavy type of things.  Not so. Tonight I was poking around Epicurious and found a nice grilled shrimp recipe.  I decided to try it with a couple of twists.

I will spare you the "recipe" and go to what is in it.

Grilled Shrimp - On the Egg

Croutons - I took my day old bread and cubed it and grilled it - WOW.

Corn on the Cob - Grilled on the Egg - Shaved to toss in salad

Avocado

Tangerine - Thanks to my mother for reminding me how nice this are

Vinaigrette - Squeeze one juice orange into mix bowl,  Cane Vinegar , EVOO whisked in to make the emulsion.  

S&P to taste.
